Want Pesco privatized
**WSHERA: Residents and traders on Sunday staged a protest against hours-long power outages in **wshera Kalan and cantonment.Led by Javed Iqbal, Zahid Gillani, Dost Muhammad, Aneesud Din, Ayaz Paracha, the protesters were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against Pesco.
The protesters were demanding privitisation of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) and removal of the officials who were carrying out the loadshedding in the areas where recovery were almost 100 percent.
Speaking on the occasion, the protesters’ leaders said that the provincial government and Pesco had signed an agreement for **t carrying out loadshedding in areas where recovery was 80 percent or more.
They said that executive engineers of Circle-I and Circle-II had violated the agreement and forced the consumers to remain without electricity for 12 to 18 hours a day. The speakers said the power suspension had affected their business and had created drinking water shortage in these areas as well.
They said that medicines worth millions of rupees were destroyed in hospitals in the district due to the outages. The protesters said that the Pesco was trying to damage the image of the provincial government.
Anjuman-e-Tajiran, **wshera, and traders an**unced to ring the Pesco ******s in the district if the power outages issue was **t resolved forthwith.
