This spooky, confusing cat photo will make you do a double take

Such is the case for Pete, this orange cat whose dark-furred companion, Sully, boggled a few Redditors (https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/4i3f9i/i_guess_we_should_have_named_him_shadow/) briefly on Friday.
The conundrum: is Sully a**ther cat? Or is he just ... a mysterious shadow?
