**WSHERA: The **wshera Cantonment Board organised Qirat competition for under-14 students of seminaries and schools here on Tuesday.Qari Samiullah of the Madrassah Ihya Allah won first prize, Muhammad Abu Bakar of the Harmain Educational Academy was declared second while Muhammad Jawad got third position. Station Commander Brigadier M Waseem Anjum, who was the chief guest, gave away Rs50, 000, Rs 30,000 and Rs20, 000, respectively, to the position holders.

PESHAWAR: Deputy Commissioner, Peshawar, Riaz Khan Mahsud, after taking an additional charge of Anti-Corruption Establishment has sought assistance of staff to efficiently work and restore trust of the people in the department.He took the additional charge of new assignment on May 2 and held detailed meetings with officials of the department.The deputy commissioner pledged to **t spare black-sheep even in the Anti-Corruption Department. “A good beginning will be started from own department and ** one will be spared if found guilty of corruption,” Riaz Mahsud vowed.

**WSHERA: The district nazim has directed the administration to issue show-cause **tices to the government officials for **t attending the district council meetings.During the district council meeting at the Khushal Khan Khattak Hall in Akora Khattak, the councillors pointed out the absence of government officials. District Nazim Liaquat Khattak directed the deputy commissioner to issue **tices to the officials for remaining absent from the sessions of the council.Convener Ashfaq Ahmed Khan presented model by-laws in the council for debate. Opposition leader Malik Juma Khan criticised the by-laws, saying that the draft was presented for debate in the council while the laws were already implemented.

LAKKI MARWAT: District nazim Ishfaq Ahmad Khan Meenakhel has accused the local leaders and councillors of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) of hindering uplift process in the district, saying that political rivals wanted to deprive the people of development.Speaking at a press conference at his residence here, he asked the JUI-F leaders to bring proofs of harassing the management of cement factory by him. He said the opponents were using such tactics for his character assassination.The nazim said that the district government had been making strenuous efforts to carry out sustainable development in the district.“** one can stop us from raising voice for the rights of people **r the political rivals will succeed to fulfill their vested interest,” he maintained.
