Obama marks Teacher's Day with touching tribute to his 5th grade teacher

To mark National Teacher's Appreciation Day, President Barack Obama paid a touching tribute to one very important educator in his life — his 5th grade teacher Mabel Hefty.
"To my 5th grade teacher Ms. Mabel Hefty and the educators who inspire our young people every single day: Thank you," Obama tweeted Tuesday along with a photo of the class of pre-teens.

There are some seriously '70s plaids and prints going on in the picture, and a young Obama can be seen grinning in the back row.*
Hefty was his teacher at the Punahou school in 1972, but the role she played in Obama's life still stuck with him decades later.
