LANDIKOTAL: The security forces and local administration raided public call ******s and shops over reports about sale of Afghan SIM cards in Landikotal bazaar.
Political Tehsildar Zahid Younis told The News that following the directives of high-ups, a team raided shops and PCOs in Landikotal and Torkham bazaars. However, ** Afghan SIM card was recovered, he added.
He also said that ******s and shops owned by Afghans were closed in Bara, adding that Afghan nationals running shops and hotels in Landikotal and Torkham bazaars would be expelled and their shops locked.
However, he said they had **t issued them **tices to vacate their shops and leave for Afghanistan so far. The official said that all such activities are part of the national action plan against terrorism.
A vendor, Ghuncha Gul, 45, hailing from Debala Shinwaro area of eastern Afghanistan, said that he had shifted to Landikotal when he was two years old and residing with his family in Gagra area near Landikotal bazaar ever since.
He said they could **t go back to Afghanistan as his village lacks facilities and facing strife.
He said that though he could earn livelihood for his family in Afghanistan, deportation would affect education of his two sons and a daughter who are enrolled at educational institutes in Pakistan.
About Afghan national cards, Ghuncha Gul said that he has **t applied for it as he loves Pakistan and consider it his own country. The April 30 deadline set by the Pakistani government to Afghans to leave Pakistan expired on Saturday.
