Panama Leaks
ISLAMABAD:Irked by the government’s ongoing media campaign in response to the opposition’s moves on Panama Leaks, the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting will meet on May 9 to take up this matter.
The committee Chairman, Senator Kamil Ali Agha of Pakistan Muslim-League-Q, has summoned the meeting at the Pakistan Television Headquarters. Other issues to be deliberated upon include the Right to Information Bill draft, code of conduct for electronic media, the ban on a new film ‘Maalik’ and irregularities in Lok Virsa.
“There is a growing concern among political circles as well as public about the misuse of tax-payers money on countering the opposition’s onslaught vis-à-vis Panama Papers. There is a question as to why to misuse public money for the defence of Sharif family,” said the Lahore-based Kamil Agha while talking to The News here.
It is interesting to **te that combined opposition parties enjoy majority in the committee and the committee is expected to come up with a divided viewpoint on some of the issues to be taken up in the upcoming meeting, including the spending from the national kitty on advertisements in media against PTI in particular.
