Says everyone turns to apex court at will
ISLAMABAD: Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed has remarked that the Supreme Court (SC) has been turned into a**ther Liaquat Bagh as everyone turns to it at their will.
“The court will hear such cases first where the attorney general appears, followed by lawyers and private parties. The Supreme Court is **t Liaquat Bagh. If interference is made in its affairs, you will go to jail. Then a hearing will take place on bail pleas instead,” he made these remarks when a Grade-16 employee of the Atomic Energy Commision interfered during the hearing of the National Command Authority Act amendment case on Thursday.
Justice Sheikh Saeed said this while heading a two-member bench.At the inception of the hearing, AG Ashtar Ausaf, counsel for employees Hafiz S A Rehman, Abdul Rehman Siddique, Abdul Rahim Bhatti and Shoaib Shaheen, and other lawyers appeared in the court.
AG Ausaf said it was a prerogative of parliament to legislate in order to make decisions of the Supreme Court or any court to neutralise them. However, such a decision could **t be declared infructuous wherein the rights of the parties concerned had been determined finally.
A Grade-16 employee of the Atomic Energy of Pakistan appeared in the court and requested the court to hear his stance. The court expressed displeasure over his interference as the court time was over.
Justice Saeed remarked that the Supreme Court had been made a**ther Liaquat Bagh as everyone turned to it at will. “If interference is made in its affairs, you will go to jail. Then hearing will take place on the bail plea instead of the case.”The court adjourned the hearing of the case indefinitely on the request of lawyers of other parties.
