Intuity Medical’s All-In-One Glucometer FDA Cleared
http://www.medgadget.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Pogo-pod.jpg
Intuity Medical, a company based in Sunnyvale, California, won FDA clearance to introduce its POGO Automatic glucose monitoring system in the U.S. This is really the first all-in-one system that unites*finger pricking, blood collection, and testing into a single*device. The power button below the display doubles as a lancing tool, so holding it down at the beginning of a*test magically results in a bloody finger. A port below the button is where the blood sample is placed for analysis. Within the device there’s a cartridge that integrates ten test strips and once those are used up, you simply dispose of the old and insert a new cartridge.
There’s ** separate lance to accidentally get poked by or test strips to lose. The POGO Automatic*can even be used one handed and doesn’t require much dexterity, **r is there a learning curve to overcome.
Check out this animation that demonstrates how one uses the POGO Automatic:
