Human rights groups fear asylum seekers are being deported in Greece under 'dodgy' EU deal

Greek officials may have deported 13 asylum seekers as part of a newly agreed push to send migrants back to Turkey, according to UN Refugee Agency UNHCR.
The first 202 people were deported from the Greek islands of Lesbos and Chios on Monday.*
But Vincent Cochetel, the director of the UNHCR’s European ******, told the EUobserver there might have been people who were asylum seekers, who are legally entitled to international protections, on one of the boats that returned to Turkey.
Those who are being returned to Turkey were reported to have **t applied for asylum, but Cochetel said that may **t be entirely true.*Under the*European Union-Turkey*agreement, those arriving on Greek islands from the*Turkish coast on or after March 20 are eligible for deportation if they do **t apply for asylum or their application is rejected or inadmissible.* Read more...
