For the first time, astro**mers have mapped the weather on an alien planet slightly larger than Earth.

The super-Earth — which is a classification used for any planet with a mass 1 to 10 times greater than that of our home planet — is named 55 Cancri e and located about 40 light-years away from our solar system.*

A new study (http://nature.com/articles/doi:10.1038/nature17169) published in the journal Nature on Wednesday*details the temperature map of the world, and even*suggests that the exoplanet, which was first discovered a few years ago, may have lava flows on its surface.*
