Patty Duke, Oscar-winning actress of stage, screen and TV, dead at 69

LOS ANGELES — Patty Duke, the Academy Award-winning former child actor and onetime president of the Screen Actors Guild, has died, according to several reports.
Maria Sansone, host of Good Day LA, first posted a family statement on her Facebook page. Duke's agents, reached by Mashable, said they had ** comment.
Duke's son, Lord of the Rings actor Sean Astin, also posted a photo on his Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=sean%20astin) of Duke holding him as a baby with only the words "I love you mom."

Duke was born to a troubled home in Brooklyn, and her mother turned her care over to talent agents when she was only 8 years old.
