The predominant image being shared using the hashtag is splatter-paint outline of a Smurf in the colors of the Belgian flag.*
The Smurfs are the creation of the late Belgian artist Peyo (http://www.smurfs.com/en/history/) who debuted the small, blue creatures in the late 1950s and have since become a worldwide animation phe**me**n.*
