World’s happiest and unhappiest nations

SDSN studied 156 countries and considered six variables — GDP per capita, healthy life expectancy, social support, perceived freedom to make life choices, freedom from corruption and generosity as major benchmarks for happiness. The countries were rated on a scale from 1 (worst) to 10 (best), with the population-weighted average score of 5.4. First we countdown the 20 unhappiest nations and then the 20 countries with the happiest people.
