On Thursday, SeaWorld an**unced the end of its killer whale breeding program: The 23 whales currently at the parks, *will be the last.
SeaWorld's current menagerie of orcas range in age from 1 to 51.

The United States*stopped issuing permits (https://www.animallaw.info/intro/laws-concerning-captive-orcas) to capture orcas in 1989. All of SeaWorld's whales that were born after that date were bred in captivity.
