The flat carbon emissions trend the world saw in 2014 was **t a fluke, according to a new report (http://www.iea.org/newsroomandevents/pressreleases/2016/march/decoupling-of-global-emissions-and-eco**mic-growth-confirmed.html) released Wednesday by the International Energy Agency (IEA).*

The IEA, which is based in Paris, an**unced that preliminary 2015 data shows last year also saw energy-related emissions of carbon dioxide — the most important global warming pollutant — stay flat compared to the year before, even though the global eco**my grew during that period.*

This "decoupling" of global emissions from eco**mic growth is an encouraging sign for those working to limit the severity of human-caused global warming.*
