Following Kendrick Lamar's performance with the National Symphony Orchestra last year and Nas's performance celebrating Illmatic's anniversary in 2014, the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts is making the genre a mainstay in its 2016-2017 programming schedule
It's recruiting A Tribe Called Quest founding member*Q-Tip to serve as its first-ever creative director for hip-hop culture.*
"With hip-hop constantly changing and evolving, it is easy to forget the history and legacy that precede it," Q-Tip said in a press release Tuesday.
