Jakarta, Mar. 7 (BNA): An Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) extraordinary session in Jakarta will support practical moves for establishing a Palestinian state, Kuwait's Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shaikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Sabah said on Sunday.
A draft resolution and the Jakarta Declaration, to be issued by the OIC's Fifth Extraordinary Islamic Summit Conference, on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Shareef, aims to back the practical steps for ending the Israeli occupation and establishing the long-aspired Palestinian state, with Jerusalem a capital, the minister, to represent His Highness the Amir Shaikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the summit, told KUNA after attending a preparatory meeting in the Indonesia capital. Shaikh Mohammad is leading the Kuwaiti delegation to the event. The summit comes at a crucial time to discuss a political, social and eco**mic future plan to counter the Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, in particular Al-Quds Al-Shareef, he said. Shaikh Mohammad highlighted Kuwait's support to the Palestinian Cause and the country's eco**mic and social contributions to alleviate sufferings of the Palestinian people. In the meantime, the summit will reaffirm the role of the OIC Member States as an effective political power on the international scene, he said.The Kuwaiti delegation to the OIC summit also includes the country's Consul General in Jeddah Saleh Al-Saqabi, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organizations' Affairs Nasser Al-Hein and Kuwait's Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulwahab Al-Saqer.The summit, in which several heads of state are taking part, will be chaired by Indonesian president Joko Widodo. The Monday agenda includes a statement by Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, and a**ther by the OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani.A general closed-door session will then be held for discussions and for heads of delegations to deliver statements. Then it will be concluded with the Declaration.Themed "Unity for a Just Solution," the summit will address many relevant topics, to be topped with developments in Jerusalem, Israel's violations and plan for dividing Al-Aqsa Mosque spatiotemporally, and the efforts to change the demographic realities of the City, effacing its Arab and Islamic identities, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).I.YBNA 0618 GMT 2016/03/07
