Girl in Sharjah dies after falling from balcony

The Omani girl fell at around 9pm on Wednesday. She climbed on to a chair and fell over the balcony’s railing. When the police arrived the girl was already dead. The body was transferred to Al Qasimi Hospital and then to the forensic laboratory for an autopsy. Police are currently questioning the parents to ascertain whether there was any negligence on their part. Colonel Khalifa Kalander, Director of Comprehensive Police Stations at Sharjah Police, said: “Parents should secure all ******* and balconies, and remove any objects that children can climb and open *******.” This is the fourth case reported in 2016, following the death of a 28-year-old Filipi**. The victim died after falling from the balcony of her 10th floor apartment in Buhaira last Saturday. A 4-year-old Syrian girl died after falling from the seventh floor apartment in the Al Tawoun area of Sharjah. In a**ther incident, a Pakistani girl died after falling from a third floor window in January. An official from Sharjah Police said, “Despite many awareness campaigns and repeated warnings from authorities, such incidents continue to take place. I suggest that few parents don’t learn the lesson and insist on repeating the mistakes committed by other parents which lead to their children’s deaths.” [email protected]
