SANTA MONICA, Calif. — The Film Independent Spirit Awards did what the Oscars could **t: **minate, and then award, multiple actors of color for performances in 2015 films.
Three out of the four acting categories went to black actors on Saturday: Abraham Attah, the pre-teen star of Beasts of ** Nation, for Best Male Lead; his co-star Idris Elba, for Best Supporting Male; and Mya Taylor, a transgender woman, for her supporting role in Tangerine.
