Back in 2012, at a moment when it seemed the topic of diversity in Hollywood couldn't boil any hotter, a group of reporters at the Los Angeles Times set out to discover just how mo**lithic the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences really was.
It's been four years — and a whole lot more heat — since that 2012 study, which unearthed a stunning statistic (http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/envelope/oscars/la-et-unmasking-oscar-academy-project-20120219-story.html) that's been cited and repeated in what must be hundreds, if **t thousands, of articles on the intractable crisis.
