Australia has new medical cannabis laws, but you still can't ***** it

On Wednesday, Australia took an important step towards legalising medical cannabis after amendments to the*Narcotics ***** Act passed the senate.
The*Narcotic ***** Amendment Bill 2016 (http://parlinfo.aph.gov.au/parlInfo/search/display/display.w3p;query=Id%3A%22legislation%2Fbillhome%2 Fr5609%22), introduced by*Minister for Health Sussan Ley on Feb. 10, will create a national licensing scheme for the controlled cultivation of medical cannabis in Australia. The consumption of medical marijuana remains illegal, with some exceptions (https://www.tga.gov.au/form/authorised-prescribers), in Australian states and territories.

The bill will allow the government to issue licenses allowing the manufacture of medical cannabis products and research into medical uses of the drug. Those who receive such licenses will have to be proven to be a "fit and proper person," and there will be penalties for misuse. Read more...
