LOS ANGELES — When Laura Vitale first began making cooking videos on YouTube, she had followers in the thousands and very little camera equipment to help her shoot.
Almost six years later, Vitale has up-to-date gear and 2.2 million subscribers to her channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/LauraVitalesKitchen/about), a surge she said began after she was selected for YouTube's NextUp program.
The program, which began in 2011, has helped over 250 YouTube creators from 15 countries to "turbocharge their YouTube channels" through funding, classes and mentorship. **w the streaming site is expanding NextUp to help up to 360 YouTube channels around the world.
