CODMAN CERTAS Plus MRI-resistant Programmable Hydrocephalus Valve
http://www.medgadget.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Certas.jpg http://www.medgadget.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Codman-certas.jpgCodman Neuro, a part of*DePuy Synthes, has unveiled an MRI-resistant CSF drainage valve for people with hydrocephalus. The device can be adjusted for how much fluid it lets pass from the brain to the abdomen or effectively turned off using a special magnetic tool. At the same time, it was designed so that even a 3 Tesla MRI machine will have trouble changing the settings, allowing patients with the device to receive safe magnetic imaging scans.
The valve has eight settings, including the “virtual off” option that keeps a pressure above*400 mmH20, and one is selected before implantation. Any time following the procedure, the physician can make an adjustment at the ****** using the*CODMAN CERTAS Tool Kit.
The valve can also be used with the*Codman Neuro’s BACTISEAL*antimicrobial catheter (pictured right) and/or SIPHONGUARD*anti-siphon device.
