Best Buy Rolling Out In-Store Apple Pay Support in U.S.

A new YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSfcW7Ym**M) and Reddit thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/3l9jvq/some_best_buy_locations_have_started_accepting/) confirm customers making successful debit and credit card purchases using both Apple Pay and Android Pay at separate Best Buy stores in California.

Best Buy is **w permitted to support Apple Pay, Android Pay and other NFC payment services after its three-year exclusivity period with payment consortium Merchant Customer Exchange (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merchant_Customer_Exchange) (MCX) expired in August. MCX has developed its own mobile payments service called CurrentC (http://www.macrumors.com/roundup/currentc/), which some retailers began testing in August (http://www.macrumors.com/2015/08/12/mcx-retailers-to-begin-testing-currentc/) but may **t see a broad launch until 2016.


Best Buy has **t officially an**unced Apple Pay availability at its U.S. retail chain, but the company did confirm in April (http://www.macrumors.com/2015/04/27/best-buy-apple-pay-today/) that it would roll out in-store support later in 2015. Best Buy joins Rite Aid (http://www.macrumors.com/2015/08/11/rite-aid-apple-pay-august-15/), Meijer (http://www.macrumors.com/2014/11/14/winn-dixie-bi-lo-apple-pay/) and other retailers as MCX members that **w accept Apple Pay, but others such as Walmart have ** plans to support the service.
