Meydan launches record-breaking Dubai mega project

Once completed, the development will boast the tallest residential tower and longest indoor ski slope in the world. The project’s launch was attended by a host of local dignitaries, including Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Commenting on the development, Saeed Al Tayer, chairman of Meydan, said: “In a city which never stops in**vating, today’s an**uncement is significant for the future of Dubai and the UAE. “We have committed to developing a multi-use destination which goes beyond expectations and will cater to every kind of person living and working here, as well as those who travel from around the world to visit. “This development is a forward-thinking, interactive enterprise geared towards the Dubai of tomorrow. The encouragement and support we have received in the past from our trusted partners will **w help the Meydan One development come to life,” he added. Those behind Meydan One have set their sights on a selection of world records. The development, which will have a gross floor area (GFA) of 5,500,000 sqm, will include: Meydan One Tower, the world’s tallest residential tower at 711m; the world’s longest indoor ski slope at 1.2km; the world’s largest indoor gymnasium at 25,000m2; the world’s highest 360° observation deck at 655m; and, the world’s largest fountain at 420m in length. Meydan One will also feature: a 540,000-sqm mall; a 600m-long LED bridge screen; a 175m-long dry fountain; a 9km boardwalk with a 4km navigable canal; a plaza and events space with the capacity to accommodate more than 60,000 people; a 9km-long bicycle trail; and a 300m-long beach. The resident population of Meydan One will be 78,300, taking the overall population of the Meydan area to 310,700.
