Second Sight Argus II Eye Prosthesis Brings Central Vision to AMD Patient

This is part of a study that will involve more patients and will assess whether the system, which includes a wireless implant and a special set of glasses, essentially replaces the work of the diseased natural photoreceptors and stimulates the remaining healthy retinal cells. The original video signal is gathered from a camera built into a pair of glasses, which is then converted by a wearable computer and sent wireless to the implant.
