OBP Medical, a company out of Lawrence, Massachusetts, *just launched the*CLEAR-TRAC, the first line of disposable surgical retractors that have a built-in light source to illuminate deep into the surgical area. The three CLEAR-TRAC retractors, the SP, V, and B, for surgical pocket, vaginal, and breast illumination respectively, use LED lights that stay cool to the touch and don’t affect the working space. The SP and B models are made of a strong*fiber-reinforced polyaryamide and the B model has gripper teeth to help hold onto the retracted tissue.
The devices come sterile and ready to use, just press the power button to activate the light. Once done using it, the whole device, light and all, can be tossed into the garbage.
