Iran pledges support for Iraq in fight against terrorism

Tehran, June 18 (IANS) Tehran will continue supporting Baghdad in its fight against terrorism as Iraq's security was intertwined with that of Iran, President Hassan Rouhani has said. In a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi in Tehran on Wednesday, Rouhani observed that: "The main responsibility for combating terrorism and finally defeating it falls undoubtedly on the shoulders of the Iraqi nation and army." "Nevertheless, the people and government of Iran have been and will continue to be beside the government and nation of Iraq," the Iranian president emphasised, Press TV reported.
