Otsuka Enters Urology Field with **n-invasive and Continuous Urine Volume Sensor Tech**logy
Kanagawa, Japan, April 28, 2015 – Lilium Otsuka Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Otsuka Medical Devices Co., Ltd., an**unced today that the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Tech**logy (AIST), UriCare Inc., and Lilium Otsuka signed a contract for research and development and marketing of products using ultrasound urinary volume sensor tech**logy owned by UriCare and AIST.
UriCare has been marketing the unique urinary volume sensor, Yuririn USH-052, in Japan, and Lilium Otsuka will proceed with development of next-generation versions based on this tech**logy. “The beauty of this tech**logy is that it can continuously measure urine volume in the bladder. It will contribute efficient control of the appropriate timing of urination, such as through clean intermittent catheterization in patients who have lost the ability to urinate for any reason and through urinary induction by nurse or caregiver during rehabilitation.” commented Isao Shirasaki, President and Representative Director of Lilium Otsuka.
