The Jeddah Municipality Council has called for a meeting with several government directorates and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to regulate around 40 street markets and find a solution to their violations, the Arabic daily Makkah reported. Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry?s shopping centers committee head Mohammad Alawi said these street markets have violated government regulations numerous times. He said: ?We need to look into these violations as they are initially set for indoor commercial buildings and centers and **t for street markets. He added the unregulated markets made it difficult for the authorities to apply the law to them, even though the government regards these locations as important attractions for the Kingdom and its culture.
