Google's Welcome Message for the New Navigation Interface
Google **w shows a welcome message next to the app launcher icon (http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2013/08/try-new-google-search-interface-in.html): "Welcome to the new way to find your favorite Google products. Click the grid to have a look."

The app launcher will replace the black navigation bar. For **w it's still an experiment and you can enable it in Chrome (http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2013/08/try-new-google-search-interface-in.html). Google will have a special interface for Chrome and the Google homepage will replace the new tab page (http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2013/08/changes-to-chromes-new-tab-page.html).

In other news, Google's CSS sprite **w has a high-resolution version (https://www.google.com/images/nav_logo147_hr.png) that's great for devices like Retina Macbook Pro or Chromebook Pixel. All the icons, buttons, arrows and logos will look better.
