This year, the other top five **minees included the founder of Alibaba, the president of Iraqi Kurdistan, Vladimir Putin, and the Ferguson protesters. The Ebola fighters captured the top spot because of their dedication to treating patients at the risk of their own health (http://www.popsugar.com/celebrity/Ebola-Facts-35850744) and safety. So far, there have been 17,000 cases and 6,000 deaths in this outbreak. American doctor Kent Brantley, who was the first American affected and is featured on one of the Time covers, spoke to the Today show (http://www.today.com/news/time-magazines-2014-person-year-ebola-fighters-1D80349125) about the decision, stating, "Those who paid the highest price for their service are themselves West Africans.
