After a bald eagle sat outside their home for more than a day, a Washington family discovered why the big bird refused to leave them alone.\n<\/p>\n

In a now-viral video from Stacy Goss, the family was startled by the sight of a huge bald eagle gawking at them, but more concerningly, at their dog Gnocchi. \u201cWhat the hell?\u201d Stacy uttered, while Gnocchi growled at the lurking bird before retreating.<\/p>\n

Bald eagles can be up to three feet long, with a wingspan range of 6 to 7.5 feet, according to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife<\/a>. They tend to hunt fish, water birds or small mammals, the department\u2019s site reads, though \u2014 in the right context \u2014 they\u2019ll hunt something bigger. They\u2019re \u201copportunistic\u201d hunters, National Zoo<\/a>\u2018s site stated.\n<\/p>\n

Stacy\u2019s husband Jim speculated that the bald eagle wanted to eat their dog \u2014 and probably would if Gnocchi dared to venture outside.\n<\/p>\n

The pair noticed the bald eagle had been tagged, which meant a wildlife agency had been tracking the bird for research. In an update<\/a> posted to Stacy\u2019s Instagram, the couple shared that the WDFW came out to assess their situation.\n<\/p>\n

The situation, it seemed, was that the bald eagle was in a bit of a food coma.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s NOT hurt, likely ate a deer (their words) and it makes them basically unable to fly for 24-48 hours,\u201d her caption read, adding, \u201cJust hoping you enjoy the beauty as much as we are.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
