Gayle King made a bit of history on Monday, April 14, when she joined an all-female space flight on a Blue Origin rocket \u2014 but it\u2019s her instantly viral expression as she boarded the craft that many will remember.\n<\/p>\n

The CBS News broadcaster looked visibly distressed as she boarded the capsule on Blue Origin\u2019s New Shepard rocket to blast off into space on Monday morning, in West Texas, even though the other women on the crew looked overjoyed.\n<\/p>\n

The moment was quickly memed (\u201cGayle king is all of us on a Monday,\u201d one X user wrote<\/a>) and King, 70, herself later weighed in on the clip.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cAt that moment I was so afraid, I just wanted to get into my seat because I just wanted to let the training kick in,\u201d she said at a news conference after the short flight alongside Katy Perry, Lauren S\u00e1nchez, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, bioastronautics research scientist Amanda Nguyen and film producer Kerianne Flynn.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cI just wanted to get inside the capsule and sit down,\u201d King said. \u201cSo the process of walking up there was a little daunting for me.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

King, who has been candid with her nerves over the trip, then recalled a bit of peculiar advice she got from a friend about how to prepare for the experience.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cI got a text from a friend who\u2019s from Germany \u2014 so, you know, you have to appreciate the sense of humor \u2014 he says, \u2018Once you get there, you\u2019re going to feel like it\u2019s sex with the gods,\u2019 \u201d she said to laughter.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, (I\u2019ve) never had sex with a god to my knowledge, so thank you for the visual,\u201d she continued. \u201cI didn\u2019t think that, but I did think that with all the stuff that you hear about the blackness and the blues \u2014 it\u2019s the neon blue (up in space), and it\u2019s still and it\u2019s quiet and you\u2019re all feeling this experience together. I know I will never forget it.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

What\u2019s more, she said, \u201cI walked out of there thinking, gosh I can do anything.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
