Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) opposed the formation of SIT by the Punjab government in the case related to Sri Guru Granth Sahib. SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that government interference in religious matters was against Sikh traditions. The exploitation of internal management affairs of religious institutions for political gain is not acceptable under any circumstances. An Inquiry Committee has already been constituted by Sri Akal Takht Sahib on this matter related to Sri Guru Granth Sahib, which has been investigating with full seriousness and responsibility. After the investigation, as per the orders issued by the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the Shiromani Committee took departmental action against the guilty employees. No concession was given to anyone in this process. This is a case of misappropriation of funds. Shiromani committee chairman said that it has become clear in the report of the inquiry committee that this case is related to the misappropriation of funds done by some employees. Despite this, the deliberate politicization of this matter by the Punjab government is tantamount to playing with Sikh sentiments.
