In the final match played at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Sunday, Pakistan won the tournament by defeating India by a huge margin of 191 runs. This is Pakistan’s second title in the U-19 Asia Cup, while the Indian team looked completely under pressure in this match. In the last match, Indian captain Ayush Mhatre won the toss and decided to bowl first. This decision initially seemed correct, but soon Pakistan’s batsmen put pressure on the Indian bowlers. For Pakistan, Sameer Minhas played a historic innings while batting brilliantly. He scored 172 runs in 113 balls, which included many attractive fours and sixes. That innings by Sameer completely changed the direction of the match in favor of Pakistan. Apart from Sameer Minhas, other batsmen of Pakistan also made useful contributions, due to which the team posted a mammoth score of 347 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. In this period, Indian bowlers were seen deviating from the line length and failed to take wickets at regular intervals. The huge target created additional mental pressure on the Indian team. The Indian U19 team, who came chasing the target of 348 runs, got off to a very poor start. Opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi was out after scoring 26 runs, while other batsmen also failed to stay on the track. Pakistan’s fast and spin bowlers completely destroyed the Indian batting order with disciplined bowling. Deepesh Devendran scored the maximum 36 runs for the Indian team but he could not get support from other batsmen. The entire team was reduced to 159 runs in just 26.1 overs. Thus India had to face a crushing defeat in the final. Ali Raza was the most successful in Pakistan’s bowling, taking 4 important wickets. Apart from them, Mohammad Sayam, Huzaifa Ahsan and Abdul Subhan broke the back of Indian batsmen by taking 2-2 wickets. Indian batsmen looked helpless before the precise strategy and aggressive attitude of Pakistani bowlers. With this victory, Pakistan not only won the trophy, but also proved that their young team can make a big contribution in international cricket in the future. At the same time, this defeat is an opportunity for introspection for the Indian team so that lessons can be learned from the mistakes in the upcoming tournaments. This final of the U-19 Asia Cup will be remembered for a long time for the brilliant innings of Sameer Minhas and the strong victory of Pakistan.
