Former Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) announced a street agitation to protect the interests of the state and against the delay in irrigation projects. BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) chief KCR said a major agitation would be launched against the delay in the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Project on the Krishna River. KCR made this announcement at a press conference after the joint meeting of the party chief executive and BRS MLAs and MLAs at Telangana Bhawan on Sunday. He accused the Congress and the central government of ignoring the interests of the state. KCR said, “We have given a lot of time. Now I have decided to intervene myself. There will be no pretense. We will fight to protect the interests of Telangana.” The BRS chief said the party would agitate in every village of Palamuru (Mahabubnagar), Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts and would also organize a big public meeting. He said that the benefits of the water of Krishna and Godavari rivers are at risk due to the incompetence of the Congress government. KCR alleged that the Congress did not start work on the project for the past two years and the BJP-led central government sent back the detailed project report soon after BRS was ousted from power. He meets Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has also been accused of pressuring the Center to stop the project. “The BJP-led NDA at the Center has been against the development of Telangana since day one. After Chandrababu Naidu joined the NDA, stopping the projects in Telangana became their agenda,” KCR said. KCR said that out of nine permissions, he has only six. As soon as Chandrababu Naidu came to power, he asked the center to send back the DPR. He also questioned the silence of the state government. The former chief minister said there was progress everywhere under BRS rule. Land prices rose and farmers lived with dignity. Now prices have fallen and there are no buyers for the acres. KCR said that Telangana was known for peace and law and order during BRS. Now murders are taking place in broad daylight and according to NCRB the crime rate has increased by 20 percent. He accused the Congress of betraying the people. He strongly criticized for personal attacks on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. KCR said, “He is constantly spewing venom and wishing me death every day. Politics should not stoop so low.” KCR also mocked Revanth Reddy about the ‘Future City’ project and said Hyderabad was not built overnight, it has a history of 400 years. He said that investment will not come through fake MoU, otherwise Rs 20 lakh crore would have come to Andhra Pradesh. –IANS amt\/dkp<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Hyderabad, December 21 (IANS).
