Guwahati, December 21 (IANS). Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to run three pairs of special trains in view of Christmas and New Year-2026. Officials gave this information on Sunday. NFR chief Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said that the special trains include Guwahati-Sairang (Mizoram)-Guwahati, Dibrugarh-Lucknow-Dibrugarh and New Delhi-Kamakhya-New Delhi, which are run for the convenience of passengers during the festive season. Under this, Guwahati-Sairang-Guwahati Christmas Special will be offered for two journeys from each direction. Guwahati-Sairang Special will run from Guwahati on 22nd and 24th December 2025. In return, Sairang-Guwahati special will run from Sairang on 23rd and 25th December 2025. For the convenience of passengers, the train will have two AC 3-level, two general second class, second class and eight sleeper waenga coaches. The CPRO said that information about halts and timings of these trains is available on the IRCTC website and is also given on various newspapers and social media platforms of Northeast Frontier Railway. Passengers are requested to confirm all details before commencing their journey. Meanwhile, to improve passenger comfort and station amenities, NFR has recently upgraded retiring rooms and dormitories at Guwahati Railway Station under Lumding Division and equipped them with world-class facilities. The Retirement Room Complex on the first floor of the station building now offers a better living experience for railway passengers. It has nine retirement rooms, consisting of seven two-bedroom rooms and two five-bedroom rooms, as well as one dormitory with 12 beds. As part of the upgrade, all rooms are fully air-conditioned, with comfortable beds and superior interiors.
