Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday launched the state-level Pulse Polio campaign by administering polio drops from the capital Shimla on the occasion of National Immunization Day. Government officials gave this information. Nearly six lakh children between the ages of zero and five years will be administered by 11,706 teams at 5,793 polio cages. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the state government is strengthening health services from primary health center to medical college. He announced that an Advanced Pediatric Center would be set up at the Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialties in Chamiyana near Shimla. This center will provide world-class treatment facilities to children with modern infrastructure. He said that special OPD consultation slots will be started in hospitals for senior citizens above 70 years so that they do not have to wait and can get timely and easy treatment. The Chief Minister said that the state government was giving priority to education and health sectors. CM Sukhu said that world-class technology and modern infrastructure are being developed to further strengthen health services in the state. He said to improve medical services, all the vacant posts in the health department are being filled gradually. CM Sukhu said that the aim of the Intensified Pulse Polio campaign is to keep the state polio free. Clean-up days will be observed on December 22 and 23, during which door-to-door checks will be carried out to cover left-behind children, migrant families and high-risk areas, he said. He said that all the necessary vaccines, cold chain equipment and other logistics have already been provided to all the districts across the state. He said that the state government has given the highest priority to modern technology in the health sector. In a historic initiative, robotic surgery has been started at Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialties in Chamiyana and Tanda Medical College in Kangra district. He said that old machines are being replaced from medical colleges to civil hospitals.
