Nainital: Before welcoming the New Year 2026, the lake city of Nainital is seen in festive colors these days. Amidst the rush of Christmas and tourist season, this winter carnival is going to increase the beauty of the city’s crowd. After the year 2018, after a long wait of 7 years, Winter Carnival is going to be organized again in 2025, which will be presented in a more grand, attractive and entertaining form than ever before. Cold weather, twinkling lights on the shores of the lake and performances by famous artists are all set to give an unforgettable experience to the tourists. Winter Carnival returns after 7 years. Winter Carnival in Nainital starts from 22nd December and lasts till 25th December. This event, which will last for four days, will have different themes and programs each day. According to District Tourism Development Officer Atul Bhandari, the aim of this carnival is not only to promote tourism but also to give a platform to local artistes and to present the cultural heritage of Nainital in a new style. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the local people and tourists about this event which is being held after a long gap. The excitement begins with the pull and regatta on the first day. The event will start with exciting activities on the first day of the Winter Carnival ie 22 December. A 20 kilometer trek competition will be organized in the morning, which will be from Nainital Birla Chungi to Kainchi Dham. Tourists, local citizens and representatives related to tourism will participate in it. Along with this, sailing regatta competition will begin at the Boat House Club located on the banks of the Naini Lake. After a day of adventure activities, tourists will be seen dancing to the tunes of music by a band performance in the evening. The second day of Deepdan and Parmish Verma’s Star Night Carnival on December 23 will be the center of attraction. Boat races will be organized in the morning in Naini lake which will be a special experience for the tourists. As the evening approaches, Naini Lake will be lit up with lamps, due to which the entire city will be colored in spiritual and festive colors. The carnival will be formally inaugurated by the chief guest on the same day. Before that, band parades and cultural tableaus will be taken out in the city. The main attraction of the evening will be the star night of Punjabi pop star Parmish Verma, who will make the atmosphere musical with his explosive performance. Food Festival and Pawandeep Rajan’s magic on 24th December. On the third day of Winter Carnival, tourists will see a unique confluence of taste and music. A food festival will be organized during the day, where food stalls of different flavors will be set up along with traditional dishes of Uttarakhand. Cultural programs will continue throughout the day. Indian Idol fame Pawandeep Rajan will grace the evening with his live performance on the occasion of Christmas Eve. Other artists will also perform with him. Pandavaj Group is shutting down on December 25. On the last day of the carnival, painting, dancing and talent competitions will be organized on the occasion of Christmas. Children and youth will get a platform to showcase their talent. In the evening, the famous Pandavaj group will perform in their traditional Pahari music style, bringing a grand finale to the carnival. Apart from this, famous singer Maan Panu from the singing reality show I Popstar will also spread the magic of his voice. There will be continuous programs for local artists on separate stages all four days. Festive atmosphere will be created in the city. To make the Winter Carnival grand, the Mall Road of Nainital is decorated with light garlands. LED screens will be installed in many places so that tourists can watch live broadcast of programs. Selfie stands will also be installed so that tourists can cherish the memories of their trip. Wide publicity of the carnival will be done at railway stations, bus stands and major places.
