Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno immediately held a joint meeting to respond to a series of hydrometeorological disasters due to extreme weather that hit Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra. Pratikno conveyed President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to all ministries and institutions to prioritize community safety and ensure the fulfillment of basic needs up to and including the post-disaster recovery stage. “President Prabowo Subianto has ordered us to be serious about emergency management of this disaster. While we are carrying out emergency management, at the same time we are preparing for the post-emergency for recovery, because the infrastructure also needs to recover,” Pratikno said in a meeting that took place in a hybrid way of the BNPB Control and Operations Center (Pusdalops, 227 Jakarta, Thursday, 207 Jakarta). This then causes floods, flash floods and landslides, as well as the disruption of transport and shipping services. The impact of this weather phenomenon caused casualties, damage to infrastructure, loss of access, electricity and telecommunications networks. Rapid assessment efforts by joint regional teams continue to be conducted and data collection is currently being updated. “It claimed quite a number of lives, but the data is still being updated,” he said. Pratikno added that the extreme weather situation is hampering the distribution of aid, but all ministry\/agency teams have been deployed to the field. He said some of the aid will be sent by air because much land access has been cut off. “The government will send aid by air through the BNPB. We cannot send aid via land infrastructure and wait until it is finished,” explained Pratikno. Pratikno said that all affected areas had declared a state of emergency, which was the basis for accelerating the deployment of resources by the central government. The government ensures full support so that emergency management runs optimally and affected communities immediately receive the help they need. “Each region has established a state of emergency.
