Chandigarh, November 26 (IANS). The Punjab Police, which is running a campaign against addiction, achieved a major success on Wednesday. The Punjab Police and the Punjab Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTFP) have jointly busted a drug smuggling module. Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav shared this information on social media platform X. DGP said that in a major breakthrough, Punjab Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Rupnagar Range busted a drug smuggling module. During this period, 5,084 kg of heroin, 1,681 kg of crystal methamphetamine, Rs 650,000 in cash and a car were recovered. Along with this, a drug smuggler who manages the supply chain was arrested. The DGP said preliminary investigation revealed that the accused has links with the key operator of the module, which coordinates the delivery and distribution of drug consignments in Chandigarh. An FIR has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway to trace the forward and backward connections and dismantle the entire network. The Punjab Police is committed to eliminating drug and drug trafficking networks in Punjab. Earlier, the Punjab Police gave a major crackdown on the dangerous smuggling and terrorist module running from across the border. Acting on intelligence, the Amritsar Rural Police launched a special operation early Wednesday and arrested two suspects and recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and two mobile phones from them.
