Three reporters confirmed that recent positive factors were not enough to push the government towards price increases, as Egypt\u2019s energy system still faces challenges related to rising import costs and debt accumulation in the oil and electricity sectors, in addition to the International Monetary Fund\u2019s commitment to gradually reduce energy subsidies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Al-Sayed Fahad explained that the system suffers from a structural problem, represented by the accumulation of oil and electricity debts and the decrease in local production of derivatives, which led to an increase in dependence on imports and direct exposure to the prices of international currencies.<\/span><\/p>\n

He added that this situation puts pressure on the monetary balance of payments and security, which leads to higher support costs.<\/span><\/p>\n
