The story of IT: Welcome to Derry<\/em> <\/em>takes viewers back to 1962, over two decades before the events of the 2017 movie. The show follows characters in Derry, Maine after a young boy disappears.<\/p>\n

So far, reviews for IT: Welcome to Derry<\/em> <\/em>have been generally positive, with praise being given to its approach to the town\u2019s backstory, the social issues it tackles, and a unique spin on Pennywise. The show has garnered plenty of attention following the twisted end to episode 1, which saw a number of characters get killed off in brutal ways.<\/p>\n

Now, Deadline<\/em><\/a> reports that IT: Welcome to Derry <\/em>episode 2 will arrive on HBO Max Friday, October 31 at 3 am ET, just in time for Halloween. Its release on the streaming platform will happen ahead of its linear premiere on HBO on Sunday, November 2 at 9 pm ET. This exceptional release only applies to episode 2.<\/p>\n

While IT: Welcome to Derry <\/em>episode 2 will arrive early on streaming, all future episodes in the eight-episode season will air at their usual time slot Sundays at 9 pm ET on HBO. As usual for every new release on the premium network, the episodes will also become available to stream on HBO Max at the same time.<\/p>\n

Given the terrifying presentation of the series, it\u2019s not a surprise episode 2 will be coming out on Halloween. IT: Welcome to Derry <\/em>episode 1 has already impressed with a horrifying finale twist, in which three of the five children established as core characters were killed by Pennywise. It emphasizes a very different, more terrifying approach to the supernatural entity.<\/p>\n

IT: Welcome to Derry <\/em>season 1\u2019s story is just the first of three that series creators Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs have for the show. The series is anticipated to keep traveling back in time with each subsequent season, telling a larger narrative about the terror Pennywise has been inflicting on the Maine town for generations.<\/p>\n

With a fitting release slot secured, IT: Welcome to Derry <\/strong><\/em>will make for a perfect Halloween treat.
