The 24 -hour plays celebrated the fifth anniversary of its Viral Monologues series on March 31 in Brooklyn with a secret performance that shows new monologues, who wrote, practiced and performed over 24 hours, along with live performances. The event kicked off a week -long celebration of the series.<\/p>\n

The group launched the series in March 2020, intended to be a socially distanced version of the usual 24 -hour programming. The series published on YouTube and Instagram, and the series has involved more than 1,000 artists who created new work during Lockdown, which has watched more than six million times. The series has since been archived by the Library of Congress.<\/p>\n

“Obviously it was the early days of all of us sitting around,” said Hugh Dancy<\/a> While hosting the 31st March event. “I don’t even know if we call it” the pandemic “at that point, but all we really have in common was that we didn’t know what the hell was going on. These were many more questions than answers … We just waited. At that moment, [24 Hour Plays Artistic Director] Mark Armstrong<\/a>The email address appeared in my inbox and basically said, “I’m just trying to get enthusiasm, if you are interested in recording a monologue at home, just write back one word: Yes.” And I didn’t really think about it, I just wrote yes back! “<\/p>\n

The evening also contains Denis O’hare (American horror story<\/em>), Santino Fontana<\/a> (Frozen<\/em>), Jeremy Shamos<\/a> (Clybourne<\/em> Park<\/em>), Nina Hellman (Wet hot American summer<\/em>), Morgan Siobhan Green<\/a> (Hadestown<\/em>), David hull<\/a> (Crazy ex -girlfriend<\/em>), Ashby Gentry (My life with the Walter boys<\/em>), David Lindsay-ABaire<\/a> (Kimberly<\/em> Aittu<\/em>), Christopher Oscar Pe\u00f1a (Promised Land<\/em>), Stephen Adly Guirgis<\/a> (Between<\/em> Riverside and crazy<\/em>), Warren Leight<\/a> (Law and order: SVU<\/em>), Nest Hutchinson (American<\/em>), Michael Mitnick (Scotland, father<\/em>), Rachel Axler (Livest<\/em>), and Lily Houghton<\/a> (Forbidden<\/em> Fruit<\/em>).<\/p>\n
