{"id":208532,"date":"2020-02-27T01:43:48","date_gmt":"2020-02-26T22:43:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ww-vb.mine.nu\/w108\/faculty-and-staff-invited-to-learn-more-about\/"},"modified":"2020-02-27T01:43:48","modified_gmt":"2020-02-26T22:43:48","slug":"faculty-and-staff-invited-to-learn-more-about","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hameed.nwar.uk\/sa\/faculty-and-staff-invited-to-learn-more-about\/","title":{"rendered":"Faculty and staff invited to learn more about"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>By Dana Meeks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Office of the Provost\u00a0will host the annual TIPs Fair on March 13, providing an opportunity to hear about programming, learn how to contribute to the interdisciplinary initiative, and engage with current Trans-Institutional Programs (TIPs) awardees.<\/p>\n<p>The TIPs program is designed to support new ideas, cutting-edge research and the development of infrastructure by supporting emerging and existing trans-institutional centers and institutes. The awards provide funding to organizations that facilitate research and teaching collaborations across disciplines, aim to address topics of critical academic and societal interest, embrace discovery and spark learning to position Vanderbilt as a world leader in a given area. The TIPs Fair will be held in\u00a0the Wond\u2019ry\u00a0on the second floor from 1 to 3 p.m., and all interested faculty and staff are invited to attend.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty from several currently funded TIPs programs will discuss their work during one-minute lightning rounds that highlight successes and discoveries. Through interactive displays and presentations, attendees will learn about cross-campus collaborations centered on important topics such as data science, the study of slave societies and global connectivity.<\/p>\n<p>TIPs\u00a0is one of the major initiatives of the\u00a0Academic Strategic Plan\u00a0and has, over the past five years, awarded $38 million in funding to 59 projects that have involved more than 500 faculty members and engaged hundreds of undergraduate, graduate and professional students.
