18 Feb <\/strong>\u2013 Russell Cheung recently revealed that he has decided not to renew his contract with TVB after 24 years with the company.<\/p>\n As reported on HK01, the actor who announced his departure recently, revealed that his decision to do so was mainly because TVB has continued to reduce the number of artistes’ appearances and projects this year, which has made it difficult for a third-tier actor like him to support himself.<\/p>\n Russel stated that with no other shows arranged for him, and TVB asking him to change the form of his contract to one show per year, he felt that it was time for him to leave and find opportunities outside the station.<\/p>\n It is noted that the company has been facing a tough situation following the previous Hong Kong protests, made worse by the following Coronavirus outbreak. TVB has already cancelled lots of public appearances and postponed production for its artistes to ensure their safety.<\/p>\n Russell, who is best known for playing Brother Eight in the hit 2007 series, “Ten Brothers”, also admitted that he hasn’t experienced the same level of success since the series, and has been relegated to playing supporting characters instead of being promoted as a lead actor.<\/p>\n “I have done my best to each character I play, from police, thief, doctor, soldier, I have done all of them. However, I have yet to get everybody’s recognition. I really hope that one day, people will not mistaken my name as Cheung Chi Lam (Julian Cheung) or Cheung King Hin (Hins Cheung), but to remember me as Cheung Chi Hin,” he added.<\/p>\n (Photo Source: HK01)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
