Just about every major app is implementing some kind of Dark Mode these days, but there\u2019s one notable omission: Facebook. We saw the company test a dark mode for Android in August and a dark desktop UI in October, but there\u2019s been no permanent option yet. Now it seems the company is finally ready to join the slew of stealthy apps, as it\u2019s begun rolling out dark mode to Facebook Lite, as spotted by\u00a0Android Police<\/em>.<\/p>\n Though I\u2019m not seeing it on my own device yet, the option has appeared for several users. It should appear as a toggle right beneath the \u2018Settings\u2019 button of the hamburger menu.<\/p>\n Facebook Lite, for those who aren\u2019t familiar, is a significantly downsized version of the Facebook App, meant for users with limited data access, though also popular just because it\u2019s less bloated than the normal version. It fits the social network\u2019s most essential features into an app that requires less than 2MB of data to download. For comparison, the standard Facebook app is about 39MB. Once installed, the apps take up about 9MB and 400MB on my device, respectively.<\/p>\n Android Police<\/em> notes the feature appears to have begun appearing in January \u2013 it\u2019s a server-side change \u2013 but Facebook appears to have ramped up the rollout recently. 91Mobiles<\/em> also reports Facebook appears to have begun a wide rollout of Dark Mode to the desktop users in India. Hopefully, this all means Dark Mode isn\u2019t too far off for the normal app for the rest of us.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
