A tiny South Korean hedge fund hit the jackpot when it made a long-shot investment in the surprise Oscar-winning movie \u201cParasite,\u201d according to a report Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Seoul-based fund Ryukyung PSG Asset Management Inc. plunked down $500,000 to help bank-roll the genre-bending satirical thriller and is poised to rake in millions after the award, according to Bloomberg News.<\/p>\n

The movie by Bong Joon Ho cost $11 million to make \u2014 peanuts by Hollywood standards \u2014 and has already earned \u00a0$165 million at the box office, according to the outlet<\/p>\n

The flick became the first non-English-language film to ever to win an Academy Award for best picture Sunday, sending box office sales soaring.<\/p>\n

The movie earned $539,000 on Monday, a 24 percent post-Oscars spike.<\/p>\n

The fund, which only invests in movies distributed by Korea\u2019s CJ Group, has returned more than 72 percent for investors since its launch in July 2018, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n

The company has also profited from other Korean films including \u201cExtreme Job\u201d and \u201cExit.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
