The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Australia during its recovery efforts from the bushfires. <\/p>\n
Their royal visit, which aims to raise funds for volunteer firefighters and survivors, will most likely take place in April. <\/p>\n
Australia\u2019s fires were the worst the country has ever experienced, with more than 15 million acres burnt and nearly half a billion animal killed. <\/p>\n
The royal family has already shown their support to the country – the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released a statement at the time, in which they said they were “shocked and deeply saddened” by the crisis in a post shared via the official Kensington Royal Instagram account.<\/p>\n
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all the people and communities who are affected by this devastating event,” they wrote. “We send our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who have tragically lost their lives, and the brave firefighters who continue to risk their own lives to save the lives of others.”<\/p>\n
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also showed their support to the country. They highlighted the areas they visited in New South Wales during their royal tour of Australia in 2018, while also acknowledging the similarly tragic fires across California, parts of Africa and the Amazon.<\/p>\n
“We are struck by the increasingly overlapping presence of these environmental disasters, including of course the destruction of the Amazon which continues,” they wrote. “This global environmental crisis has now been described as Ecocide. It\u2019s easy to feel helpless, but there\u2019s always a way to help.”<\/p>\n
Kensington Palace has declined to comment about the Cambridge\u2019s visit. <\/p>\n
